PROJECT
A framework was developed for the dependable detections of anomalies
in wireless ad-hoc networks. In performing the research, we
identified a nomenclature for characterizing anomalies and faults in
MANET based networks, surveyed the likely set of faults and active
attacks that can take place in the networks, and developed a
corresponding strategy for performing distributed fault and anomaly
detection while striking an effective balance between providing
complete coverage, limiting the occurrence of false alarms while
simultaneously providing network efficient approaches to information
distribution.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
The Dependable Ad-Hoc Network Assessment
(DANA) environment with statistical anomaly detectors, misuse
detection mechanisms, and traditional protocol engine fault
detectors.
PROJECT STATUS
Completed for the Army Research Office.
